VIDEO: Marlon Lipke & friends shooting double barrels down in Namibia

Before claiming the European ASP title this year, Marlon Lipke made a surf trip to Namibia with the boys Joan Duru, Josh Redman, Gony Zubizarreta and Aritz Aranburu.

Here's the video and we wouldn't risk saying it features some of the longest barrels in the World; perfect thick brownish sanded barrels!

The big swells are arriving to Praia do Norte and Garret McNamara, the big wave rider that surfed a mammoth wave last winter in Portugal and shocked the world due to a never ending wall, is already there waiting for the wave of the season. 

Kelly Slater paid him a visit two days before joining the other pro surfers at the Rip Curl Pro Portugal won by the young Ozzie Julian Wilson.

VIDEO: Surf in Portugal in the late 20s

It is believed to be the oldest movie reporting surf culture in Portugal in the late 20s, practicing belly board at Leça da Palmeira beach, near Porto. 

This film is actually one of the oldest surf footage shot in Europe. The European surf culture was starting to take place in a few summer resorts like Biarritz in France but also in Portugal and Spain.

Rip Curl Pro Portugal 2012 is ON

In 2009 Rip Curl choose Peniche has its revolving event "The Search". Since then, due to the phenomenal surfing and requests from professional surfers, Peniche became a regular event. 

Now, every year in October for a period of 10 days, the best surfers of the world are claiming 10 point barrels down in Supertubes Peniche.
