In our previous post, Kepa Acero, the soul surfer from the Spanish Basque Country was saying it was not only about the waves....it was beyond that; and actually this new post we bring over to you is not only about the waves too.

Aritz Araburu, also Basque, now brings a video entitled "Les Landes", featuring great frames from this famous seaside resort destination in the west coast of France. In fact the coast between Biarritz and Hossegor has some of the best surf spots in France hosting major international surf events, even one stage in the World Championship Tour of Surfing. But this place is heaven for surfers not only due to the powerful beach breaks, but also due to the richness of its nature, history, culture and surf spirit. Big wave riding @ Nazaré, Portugal - 11th January 2013

Here's the most recent video release about Nazaré big surfing days. The Billabong tough crew  composed by Shane Dorian, Eric Rebiere and Benjamin Sanchis did well in one of the biggest swells of the year so far, very similar to the waves surfed by McNamara in 2012 with 78 ft. 

On Friday 11th January, the boys dropped enormous waves. Shane said "if you had paddled into the biggest waves today, you would have paddled into the biggest wave ever paddled. I have no doubt about that.”

“As far as intensity, power and size goes you could compare this wave to anywhere, whether it’s Cortez Bank, Jaws or Mavericks,” Dorian said.

2012 Carnival is in Madeira Island

The beautiful Madeira Island is preparing for one of the most colourful seasons throughout the year and it is not the flower fest! 

The carnival in Madeira is all about colourful streets with popular fests that will entertain the citizens and thousands of tourists that flow in every year.

The greatest thing of all is that this is also one of the best seasons to surf in Madeira. The North Atlantic storms are blessed by the south east African winds, for perfect offshore surfing days.

VIDEO: Medina's Backflip

Imagine that you reach the final day of competition and someone makes a mistake and you end up in second.  What would you do? 

Well, Gabriel Medina, did a backflip! Yes the kid doesn't stop...

The young Brazilian and prodigy surfer who recently finished the Rip Curl Pro Portugal 2012 in second due to a Juri's controversial decision giving the victory to Julian Wilson, took it personally and this seems to have fueled him to continue his own path towards new surfing maneuvers. Now are there any other maneuvers left? Double backflip perhaps?
